Mystery House

Once a weekend, I am going to post the progress of a house being built on the hill across from me! I have no idea what the outcome will be or how long this will take. I am hoping that it will evolve into an modern architectural delight, but the mid-century houses around here are better than the new built houses.

Time Out: A Moment with Buddha

I took this snapshot last week, but after surveying the yard this morning, I turned the sprinklers off! Yeah!

My Movie Favs: Bagdad Cafe et Les Ethiopiques

It took me twenty years to finally see this film! I heard the soundtrack first. http://www.ethiopiques.info Our friend Robert gave my hubby ethio jazz et musique instrumentale 1969-1974 and just by a chance, the hubby chose it on netflix. Emma, what took you so long? I have a good excuse, I had a baby! Yes, and my baby is going to be twenty! But that's a whole 'nother story...

Happy Birthday Tosh!

This is one of my favorite pictures of the man who always has a plan! He is the go to guy, the "jack of all trades" and damn good at pool! Above all that, he is the best grandpa on this plant earth!

Happy Birthday Toshi!

XOXOXOXOXOXO

A Crafters Lament

I saw this image I Am Half Sick of the Shadows painted by the Pre-Raphaelite John Waterhouse the other day and all that I could think about was the popularity of crafting and the Etsy handmade phenomenon. Maybe if we dressed up we could work faster.

Robin Hill: Fantasy or Reality?

My most enduring memories of the 2002 PBS series The Forsyte Saga are of the house at Robin Hill. The series was almost entirely filmed on location in the northwest of England. But after just a little surfing the truth is that they built half of the set and digitized the rest http://pbs.org/wgbh/masterpiece/forsyte/notes.html#locations.

Stanmore Hill: This is Real!

Stanmore Hill is one of my most favorite places in England.

Where is my West Elm Catalog?

My mum received her new West Elm catalog yesterday, but I have yet to receive mine. She lives in a posh hood, where as I just live in the hood. The thought of it got me dreaming about these lamps all over again. I love these lamps... I really don't need them and I have nowhere to put them.

Buddha Comes Down From The Mountain

My husband and I are the new caretakers of this peaceful Buddha relocated from Forest Falls, California. My hubby picked it up from our friends house and drove it home to "the temple" in the front passenger seat of the car with the seat belt attached. Namaste.

Store Tour: GROT, Redondo Beach, CA

Saturday, I was home in Redondo Beach so I swung by GROT and luckily I had my camera with me. The shop is choc-a-block with beautifully refurbished pieces that are not on the website. Please check out my flickr set "New GROT stock, Labor Day 08"
