Mr. Thornton left his hat.
Last Sunday I made my way through the crowded Veterans Stadium. The weather was obviously on the cool and cloudy side. I was thinking about England and then my gaze fell upon this hat!
Tea Towel of the Month: February
During the summer of '97 my daughter and I spent 8 weeks in London while I worked on my masters thesis! We were waiting for a train on the Bakerloo Line and an old one just like this pulled into the station. I remember telling my daughter that this might be our only opportunity to ride on such an old train! I scored this tea towel from that cute blonde German lady who sells at the long Beach and Torrance markets! I even talked her down two bucks!

Collection Envy...Slideshow This!
melbomba.blogspot.com has a sweet composite of this tray collection that she shared from bloesem.blogs.com...I would love to have a tray collection like this one by fingerspitzengefuhl, but honestly, I am too old and live on the wrong continent!

Time for Some Retro Czech Design
Wow! I am immediately drawn to anything designed by the Czechs. I remember that apartment in the late Metropolitan Home that was so "drop dead gorgeous"!

The Flickr Cure (I'm sick)
Elizabeth Moriarty has a delicious little set of streamline modern houses on flickr. I cringe at the word tear-down and salute these Brits who care to restore these gems.
As a child, each time I visited my Aunt Audrey in Canon's Park in I noted the gradual disappearance of these sugar cube houses. One beautiful house on Chestnut Avenue was replaced with a "french country" styled house.

Castellana: A visit to the past.
This is a photo from the house that we lived in previously.
As you can see, it is quite different from
Hodge Podge Lodge.
See the orange painting by Daniel Askten.
Differrence and Repetition: Inaugural Exhibition at CB1 Gallery
Detail of untitled painting by HK Zamani installed at home not at CB1.

$3.90 Refund from ELLE DECOR
I rang up this morning to cancel the ELLE DECOR that replaced Metropolitan Home and was told that I may expect one to two more issues and a cash refund of $ 3.90.
This is what was printed on the post card that was sent to me
"ELLE DECOR, published 10 times a year, is the leading interior design magazine in the world. A guide to the best the words of design and architecture have to offer, it showcases inspiring homes, smart ideas, cool objects, fascinating people, and useful entertaining ideas-plus where to travel, what to look for, and where to stay, dine, shop.
We deeply regret any inconvenience, and we hope you enjoy ELLE DECOR."
This magazine needs a big reality check!

No More High End Inspiration From Met Home...
Met Home of the Month for July/August 2009 by designer Amy Lau.
I will be getting Elle Decor instead. I will look at them but will probably pass them on to the youngsters! I plan to re-read all my old issues of Met Home! Good thing I save all of the issues!
The only way for me to feel a little better is to visit the Mid Century Neighborhoods Pool on the flickr slide show and visit Retro Renovation!
